Pour cela, on a recours \u00e0 un mod\u00e8le stratigraphique qui simule l&#8217;\u00e9volution des bassins s\u00e9dimentaires sur de grandes \u00e9chelles de temps (millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es) et d&#8217;espace (centaines de kilom\u00e8tres). Le logiciel DIONISOS, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;IFPEN depuis 1992 et tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 des compagnies p\u00e9troli\u00e8res, permet d&#8217;effectuer ce type de calculs en prenant en compte deux grands processus physiques :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Le transport gravitaire des s\u00e9diments d\u00fb \u00e0 l&#8217;inclinaison du sol ;<\/li>\n<li>L&#8217;\u00e9coulement de l&#8217;eau provenant des fleuves et des pr\u00e9cipitations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Les deux ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes sont fortement coupl\u00e9s et font appara\u00eetre des \u00e9chelles de temps et d&#8217;espace tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentes.
